GlasSpan® Composites & Fiber-Reinforcement Systems

GlasSpan® SpectraFill™

Light Cured Anterior/Posterior Nano-microhybrid Composite. GlasSpan SpectraFill™ is a light-cured nano-microhybrid composite for anterior and posterior restorations. It is based on a BIS-GMA resin formulation with inorganic filler particles of 0.05-0.9 μm. Filler content: 81 % (wt), 63 % (vol.). The composite material meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 4049.

Indefinite shelf-life
GlasSpan® is one of the few materials with an indefinite shelf-life.

Indications

Suitable for Class I, II, III, IV, and V restorations.

Side Effects

Irritations resulting from direct or near contact with the pulp cannot be ruled out. Therefore appropriate desensitizing agents or pulp protection on the cavity floor in cases of deep excavations should be considered.

Incompatibility with Other Materials

Do not use in combination with substances containing eugenol because eugenol can impair the hardening of the composite and causes discoloration. Do not store the composite material in proximity of eugenol containing products, or let the composite come into contact with materials containing eugenol.

Preparation of Tooth and Color Matching

Clean the tooth with a fluoride-free polishing paste (e.g. flour of pumice with water) prior to preparation and color matching. Determine the tooth shade while teeth are still moist and select the appropriate GlasSpan SpectraFill™ shade.

Cavity Preparation

After isolation (best with a rubber dam) prepare the cavity with minimal tooth reduction. Condition and apply an adhesive bonding agent according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Application and Curing of GlasSpan SpectraFill™

GlasSpan SpectraFill™ is easy to mold utilizing a non-metallic instrument. Transparent matrix strips may be used to assist interproximal contour and separation. In the case of deep and extended cavities, the best results are achieved with a layer of a light-cure flowable composite (e.g. GlasSpan SpectraFlow™), followed by the application of GlasSpan SpectraFill™. In the case of small cavities, GlasSpan SpectraFill™ may be used directly. For optimal results apply GlasSpan SpectraFill™ in layers no greater than 2 mm. Light-cure each increment separately using a polymerization unit with a light intensity of at least 1000mW/cm2, cure each increment for 20 seconds.

Storage

Do not store above 25 °C (78 °F). Cool storage prolongs shelf life.

Additional Notes

- Do not use any resin to adjust the viscosity of this composite restorative material.
- Contact of resin pastes with skin should be avoided, especially by anyone having knows resin allergies.
- GlasSpan® Composites are shaded according to VITA®-Shades.
- VITA® is a registered trade mark of the VITA-Zahnfabrik, Bad Säckingen, Germany.
